CFD & FEA analysis created an optimized, robust rotor for Liquid-Liquid Extractor

Continuous Liquid- Liquid Extraction (LLE) columns are often about four storeys high. Designing rotors of such proportions is a challenge for both, mechanical and chemical engineers.

We decided to take help from our in-house design groups capable of simulation and analysis using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

CFD analysis helped in optimizing the rotor geometry to ensure optimum dispersion and settling of the two immiscible liquid phases. FEA pinpointed the areas of undesirable stress concentration and predicted natural frequencies of the rotor which needed to be kept away for vibration free, smooth operation of the LLE.

The skills required for using the latest simulation techniques are honed by our teams of engineers over a period of several years, some of them having post doctorate qualifications.

Technoforce also works closely with renowned universities for developing products. We are, therefore, confident of resolving challenges in the areas of chemical or mechanical engineering during product development, product improvement and trouble shooting.
